What They Say About Us

A friendly and secluded getaway with plenty of outdoor space to relax and explore

The staff was friendly and very helpful. Upon check-in, the hostess very kindly walked us to our room and made sure we knew everything we needed. The overall environment was very appropriate to the mountain/woods surroundings. I loved the lodge itself with wood panels and ceiling beams - very pretty. Our hotel room was lacking a table and chairs or any type of couch/lounge - it only provided a bed and was very very small so the room felt very overpriced for what was provided (less than a motel 6). We did eat at the restaurant and had a lovely time. The food was pricey but it was nicely prepared but the price was comparative to a high-end steak house and I can't say it was quite that level, although we enjoyed it. The wait staff really did not know the prices for any of the wines and had to call a manager to get pricing (but they were very nice and helpful and friendly). It did seem they had just gone through some changes so this may have been why. Overall, it is a nice place to stay and we enjoyed it but there is room for improvement.

The staff is awesome! Historical place close to mountains. If I can’t go camping, I want to be here at Sierra Sky Ranch when I need me time. Wonderful!

I stayed here for 1 night. I liked it, but I am not picky. It didn't have food options...no likelihood of ordering delivery, but if I can't trust a hotel, it doesn't matter if it was ok. However, this hotel was the first hotel to ever double charge me. I have stayed in at least 20 hotels this year driving across the country. I booked through Priceline. Sierra Sky Ranch charged me separately after Priceline had. I called to correct it and did not receive a single apology; only an "uh huh" and I was the person to use my manners, saying "thank you" each time. I had informed her that it is inconvenient and not the fault of the consumer. I have worked in customer service before and this person answered the phone both days when I called the hotel directly. The next day, I was told the manager would be in because she was out of town and apparently all issues aren't dealt with until the manager is in town. Not one phone call - so I called. The woman on the phone then said she had to see how it was dealt with (poor communication between staff and management?). She said, "Oh, the refund was processed yesterday." Then, I find I received someone else's personal information by email (their receipt). What a disaster. Had this not have happened, the hotel would receive a 4 star from me.

Nestled in the foothills on the way to Yosemite. A great lodge clean and close to restaurants.

The hotel staff was friendly. The room was clean. The location was great. But... It was literally the worst bed I ever slept on. I had a queen suite room. I woke up after a few hours and my back was killing me. I went to sleep on the couch and it started feeling better after a few hours. Around 5:30am I decided to go back to the bed and again my back was killing me when I woke up. I stay at hotels more than I stay at my house since I travel for work a lot. I have never had this problem with a hotel bed before. Also the room I was in you could hear people walking around upstairs from the floor squeaking. I hope they update their beds soon. If they can do that it would be a great place to stay.

Stayed last night.. It was beautiful and peaceful. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to get away.... However, a few weird things happened. 1. We heard kids running through the halls at 2am. We were kinda irritated about that. 2. Our bathroom door wouldn’t stay closed. Rob kept saying it was the foundation. 3. This morning, laying in bed drinking coffee, I smelled a very very strong odor of men’s cologne. Rob didn’t smell it. We assumed one of the kids in the next room spilled cologne and it was coming through the walls. Well, as we were checking out, we were telling the lady how we wanted to come back. We told her about the kids being loud next door and she laughed it off.. then proceeds to tell us a little story about the haunted hotel we just stayed in. We only told her about the loud kids... she even told us there was a book at the checkout desk that people have input their sightings and stories over the years! Built in 1875, it was an R&R place for soldiers during a World War as well as a hospital for children who were dying of Tuberculosis. A nurse named Sara died from TB in room 33 after taking care of two kids who also died from TB in that room. A cowboy ranch hand had also committed suicide near the bunk house(where we stayed) on the premises at one point as well. The lady tells us ... Sometimes the kids who died here run through the halls late at night. We look it up online.. They(ghosts) didn’t like the doors closed, so patrons have complained of doors opening without anyone there. Patrons have described smelling a fragrant smell of men’s cologne randomly with no one wearing any. So... there’s that. Look it up online. We will definitely be going back. Nothing scary happened. It was super cool staying at a place with so much history!!! We highly recommend it. It is a very beautiful place. Staff were very friendly, place was clean and cozy. Food was delicious!

Sierra Sky Ranch was a beautiful, historic building that seemed to preserve a lot of the old parts of the building which I really enjoyed. The bed and bathrooms were wonderful, if not luxurious, and there were some cute rocking chairs that we could watch TV in front of. There were definitely enough electrical outlets and the wifi worked well enough. The only issues that we noted was that the floors could use some deep cleaning (but it's an old building so take that with a grain of salt) and that there wasn't furniture to put food on or to put clothes away in, which also wasn't an issue for our short term stay but could be an issue for someone with a lot of stuff. The restaurant attached to the hotel had very limited hours and the food didn't match the price point. As well, the hotel is next to the entrance of Yosemite, making it extremely valuable in location.

Great place to stay. Was here for a Yosemite trip. Easy gravel parking. Rooms are a bit small but well kept and worth it. It has French doors that open up to a shared porch with a nice view of the surrounding trees. It’s a quiet location with a chance of spotting wildlife. We’ve seen deer and wild turkey during our stay. You can always find hot chocolate and coffee mix in the lounge area. Breakfast and dinner meals are tasty.
